DIMENSIONAL STABILITY

Standard EN ISO 5077 specifies the method with which fabrics, garments and sets of fabrics should be prepared, marked and measured in trials conducted to determine dimensional variation following a specific treatment (washing, blowing, etc.)

TEST METHOD
DESCRIPTION

MINIMUM COMPLIANCE VALUES

EN ISO 5077

The trial consists of cutting test samples (measuring at least 50 cm x 50 cm), with parallel edges along both the length and width of the fabric. Markings on the samples will be at least 35 cm away from one another, while the distance to the edges should be at least 5 cm.

The marks are measured following treatment, thus avoiding wrinkles in the fabric. In addition, the dimensional variation percentage will be calculated.

Después del tratamiento se miden las marcas, evitando arrugas en el tejido y se calcula el porcentaje de variación dimensional.

The following formula calculates the dimensional variation percentage:

(Xt − Xo ÷ Xo) × 100
